Another Birthday, Another Cupcake

My kids love cupcakes…and they ask for cupcakes instead of cake on their birthdays. CupcakesThat’s just fine with me as cupcakes are sooooo much easier to make than a cake.  And I love the extra bonus of not slicing and not hearing “Mommmmm his piece is bigger than mine”; “ Mommmmm she got more icing on her slice”;  “Mommmmm” –fill in the blank … you get my drift.

Here is a scrapbook page I did a few years ago about our love of cupcakes for birthdays!

I spent my morning making red velvet cupcakes with dark chocolate icing, aren’t they pretty even without the icing on them! These turned out extra red for some reason?  Maybe all the love I poured into them. tee hee..IMG_0518 But oh how gorgeous with the icing and shamrock sprinkles.  Shelby must have something green to celebrate both her IMG_0533 copybirthday and St. Paddy’s day because they are so close.  What’s more gorgeous, the cupcakes or the girl….. why the girl of course, she’s my little cupcake!

This year Shelby got an itouch, a book, a facebook page and money for jewelry at Charming Charlie's.  She picked out some cute earrings,IMG_0561 necklaces and a bracelet.  It’s amazing how different our taste is in jewelry (and clothes).   Did I really give birth to this girl!  I like pearls and diamonds (preferably large) and she like dangly, flashy, large chunky things! Smiley from millan.net I’m actually glad she has her own style.  To finish off the night we took the kids to a Japanese Hibachi restaurant and they had a blast…that makes me think of a blast from the past…..the day Shelby was born….

13 years ago, My baby girl decided she couldn’t hold on Pictures1until St. Paddy’s day.  Instead she is an Ides of March baby (oh yeah, we know to beware her temper).  I was actually sick the day she was born.  I had a temperature and after her birth, they wouldn’t let me see her until my fever broke which was really early the next day.  It’s weird to have a baby then not see her for that long, it seemed like having her was all a dream.

She was my smallest baby at 7.1 lbs (yes!) and she had red hair from the get go. Unfortunately they slapped a hat on her as soon as she was born, but trust me, it’s red under that hat in this photo… She wasn’t a dream and I have been blessed everyday to have a daughter as sweet, beautiful, LUVELY and compassionate as:

Miss Shelby Lora King…..
A little bit of heaven
Drifted down from above -
A handful of happiness,
A heartful of love.
The mystery of life,
So sacred and sweet
The giver of joy
So deep and complete.
Precious and priceless,
So lovable, too
The world's sweetest miracle,
Baby girl, is you.
